Shocking End for Two Unlikely Lovers

By October Winchester
In our fair streets of Verona, two powerful families take their hostility and animosity onto to the streets, the Montague’s and the Capulet’s. With both families at fault, our city has turned into a bloody battle field, causing chaos and mayhem among our citizens. However, in the middle of all this madness, lie forbidden affairs, hidden secrets, betrayal, and a story with a tragic ending. A tragic end for two adolescents whose love was kept a secret until their unfortunate end. An end that did nothing to end the feud between the two families.

Romeo Montague, a member of the well respected Montague household, and son to Sir and Lady Montague. Romeo Montague was a 16 year old young man, who was apparently associated with Mercutio, a relative to the Prince. Romeo and Juliet apparently met during a party that was being held by Sir Capulet, and was at first, clueless of who each other was, but upon learning of each other's idenity, they soon realized that their relationship was to be kept a secret. This young man was confirmed to have been secretly married to Juliet Capulet, a member of the Capulet household, and their family rival. Romeo is also described to be a respectable, young gentleman, and personally, in my opinion, a very handsome young man.

Juliet Capulet, a member of the well respected Capulet household, and daughter to Sir and Lady Capulet. This young woman was a mere 12 years old when she met her demise, but before all this chaos, she lived a lavish, and sheltered life, and was apparently courted by Sir Paris, a relative to the Prince. This young woman is said to be related to Rosaline Capulet, another young woman who was romantically involved with Romeo before he met Juliet Capulet. It was confirmed by her Nurse that when Juliet met Romeo, the two agreed on keeping their relationship a secret for their sake and their families as well. Despite their efforts to keep their relationship going, it never worked out between the two of them which eventually led to their double suicide.

I recently caught up with Juliet Capulet's personal Nurse, and this is what she had to say about the tragedy, " I have known Juliet all her life, and have taken care of her like she was my own daughter. After we found out about her suicide, I felt crushed, not only because of her death, but for the fact that she was taken from us a second time. I didn't know what to think, I didn't how to feel. All that was in my mind was guilt, guilt for her death, guilt for Romeo's death, guilt for not letting her be with the one she loved. But what was I supposed to do, tell her to run away with Romeo, ofcourse I couldn't tell her that, like I said, she was like a daughter to me, and I wanted her to be safe, but I was wrong to turn my back on her. I hope that wherever she is, she can forgive me. That's all I have to say. "

I recently caught up with Lord Montague, Romeo's father, and this is what he had to say about the tragedy, " I can't believe that my son killed himself for that whore, that Capulet. He didn't deserve to die, even if it was his own doing. She probably drove him to it, telling him that that's the only way they could be together. I mean how could he have loved someone like her, why couldn't have have fallen for someone else? Why? Why her? She didn't deserve my son, and she deserved what she got, but my son didn't. "

It has been months since the deaths of these two unlikely lovers, and a trial is still on it's way. Both families shows little, to no consideration for the other's lost, but has since both agreed that the Friar be put on trial for of their childrens death. The Prince, however, has threatened both families that any chaos caused by either side shall be punished by the law. As for the other deaths that were caused by both sides, a trial is also on it's way. A tragic end for two innocent adolescents that was driven by their family's rivalry, who do you think is to blame?

*My Views on Euthanasia*

Is "mercy" killing a legitimate way to ending someones life?
I believe that "euthanasia" is a humane, and legitimate way to end someones life. For example, someone who is in a coma might have little to no chance of ever recovering, so I believe that this person's family, whoever they are, should be able to decide their family member's faith without any conviction of punishment. Another way of "euthanasia" that I find acceptable is assisted suicide. Assisted suicide is to abolish or eradicate one's life voluntarily painlessly. I believe that this is humane in cases when one is terminally ill and no longer wants to suffer, however, I do not view this acceptable if the person is all but depress. I also do not find it acceptable when one exploits euthanasia as a way out, just like what Mr. Lupoe decided for his family. What Mr. Lupoe did to his family was wrong, no matter how bridled, or frustrated he felt about getting canned from his job. I also believed that in any case that someone should decide to result to something as drastic as this, they should consider the possibility that everything will get better.

*Mercy Killing*

1. Reflecting on Of Mice and Men.
a. In the book "Of Mice and Men", George had to make the ultimate decision of ending Lennie's life. In his defense though, Lennie did always get George into some kind of trouble. For example, George always got fired along with Lennie because he would do something stupid. Not only is Lennie a burden to George, but he is also a threat to everybody else which is probably why he did what he did.

b. Although what George did to Lennie was a pretty horrible thing, I really don't blame him and I do think what he did to Lennie was the best thing for him. I think it was the best thing for Lennie because I'm pretty sure that if Curly would've found him, Curly would've done something worst. On top of that, I think that it was the best thing to do since they eventually had to stop running from everything.

2. Father in Italy Accused of Murder
a." Late last year, 67-year-old Beppino Englaro, won an intense 10-year legal battle to allow his daughter's feeding tubes to be removed, saying that was her wish."According to the quote, he decided to remove his daughter's feeding tubes because it was within her wishes. I understand why he decided to follow through with removing her feeding tubes, I could just imagine what he must have felt, what he must have been thinking when he realized that he had to decide for her, that her life was now in his hand.

b. "Eluana Englaro, who had been in a vegetative state for 17 years, died Feb. 9 in a clinic in the city of Udine after doctors removed her feeding tubes. She was 38." In my opinion, I do think that removing her feeding tubes was the best thing. According to the quote, she was in a "vegetative state" for 17 long years, in my opinion, she has suffered long enough, long enough for people to have understand why he did what he did. And for the people who thought removing her life support was in humane, I think that they should put themselves in her father's position.

3. Man Kills Family after Losing his Job
a. What happened to the Lupoe family is huge tragedy, even if it was "euthanasia". Although, according to the article and the "suicide note" he left, he claims that his employer told him that he should have just "blown his brains out", this was probably one of the things that triggered his and his wife's "decision", as he claims, to do what they had resorted to. Although, I could imagine other things that were going through his head as he "contemplated" on committing such a horrific thing. I could just imagine him thinking about what they were going to feed their kids since they have lost their jobs, or worrying if they could still keep the house, etc, etc. I believe that he did what thought was best for his family, although I strongly disagree to what he did to his children.

b. It is true that the economy is affecting the way a lot of families live, but giving support to your child does not only have to come from the money that they received. Other ways that parents can support us, "the kids", is to give us encouragement in everything we do. Encouragement is not only a positive thing to do, but it is also a productive thing to do, because personally, I have succeeded in a lot of ways I never thought I could. For example, I don't think that my own techniques in drawings could have ever develop without my parents encouragement. Many parents could do the same for their child, especially focusing on encouraging their kids on doing what they love.

1a. Find and post a picture of a celebrity, athlete, cartoon character, etc (male OR female) who would best play RALPH.
-Batman as Ralph

1b. Answer the following in a complete sentence: Who is this person? Give 5 thoughtful reasons this person would play RALPH well (use descriptions, personality traits, roles, actions, motives, etc)
-Batman is a comic character that many has come to know. I decided to give him the role of Ralph because I believe that his strong personality will make Ralph a stronger character. I also view Batman as being a very dark and troubled individual, therefore he will be able to give Ralph's character a more dramatic affect. I have also come to know him as a very strong leader, though he is times in conflict within himself, that being mentioned, I believe that he will be able to portray Ralph's leadership in a unique way. He is also a very drawn individual just like Ralph is, yet I think that on top of everything, the main reason why I chose him is because he is very different in dealing with his issues.
2a. Find and post a picture of a celebrity, athlete, cartoon character, etc (male OR female) who would best play JACK
-The Joker as Jack

2b. Answer the following in a complete sentence: Who is this person? Give 5 thoughtful reasons this person would play JACK well (use descriptions, personality traits, roles, actions, motives, etc)
- The Joker is Batman's biggest and worst enemy. The fact that they are mortal enemies is probably one of the biggest reasons why I picked the Joker. I also decided on giving him the role because of his mental instability, giving Jack's role a more deviant and disturbed twist to it. Another reason I gave him the role is because of his hatred for the Batman, this factor will make the story line more interesting and a lot darker.

3a. Find and post a picture of a celebrity, athlete, cartoon character, etc (male OR female) who would best play PIGGY.
-Robin as Piggy

3b. Answer the following in a complete sentence: Who is this person? Give 5 thoughtful reasons this person would play PIGGY well (use descriptions, personality traits, roles, actions, motives, etc)
-Robin is Batman's sidekick. I decided to cast him as Piggy because it's a perfect fit. Piggy is practically Ralph's sidekick, and Robin is Batman's sidekick. I also decided to give him the role because I thought that it would enhance the portrayal of Ralph's leadership, I also thought that giving him the role would show how much of an abuse Piggy actually gets from everybody else. On top of everything though, I thought that his stubbornness towards the Batman would give the story a twist.

4a. Find and post a picture of a celebrity, athlete, cartoon character, etc (male OR female) who would best play SIMON.
- Clayface as Simon

4b. Answer the following in a complete sentence: Who is this person? Give 3 thoughtful reasons this person would play SIMON well (use descriptions, personality traits, roles, actions, motives, etc)
- Clayface is one of Batman's rival, but the twist to this story is that he use to be one of Bruce Wayne's closest friends. I decided to give him the role of Simon because Simon's character is very timid, just like Clayface was in the beginning. Another reason why I chose him is because Clayface was a cop in the Batman series, therefore he will be in conflict within himself to pick between sides. The last reason I chose him is because of his vengeful, yet confusing attitude towards society.

5a. Find and post a picture of a celebrity, athlete, cartoon character, etc (male OR female) who would best play ROGER.
- Harley Quinn as Roger

5b. Answer the following in a complete sentence: Who is this person? Give 3 thoughtful reasons this person would play ROGER well (use descriptions, personality traits, roles, actions, motives, etc)
- Harley Quinn is yet another of Batman's sworn enemy, she is The Jokers supposed lover. The fact that she is The Joker's supposed lover is one of the reasons I picked her to be Roger; I thought that by casting her as Roger, there would be a possible love match. I also thought that her disturbed mentality would be perfect since Roger did kill Piggy. My last reason for casting her is because I see her as The Jokers apprentice/sidekick, just like Roger is like Jack's right hand man.

6. Find and post a picture of what you would use as your "beastie" (you can have more than one)
-Since my whole story line has been based on the Batman, I decided that the "Beastie" should be the Gotham Police. I thought that it was a perfect fit since the Gotham Police hasn't always been a big fan of the Batman, not his villains.

7a. Find and post a picture of a place you would like your movie to take place (this does NOT have to be an island - think of another place your characters can be stuck)

-I would like my movie to take place in the Arkham assylum since most of my characters are mentally distubed.

7b. List at least three things you would change about the story (this may be due to setting OR just personal preference)

-One of the three things I would change about my story is Piggy dying. The second thing I would change is Ralph's charater, not literally, but I would make him a more demented and dark character. The last and third thing I would change would be that way Piggy is; I would make Piggy's characer a lot more defensive and a bit tougher.

8. TITLE: Would you keep the title Lord of the Flies the same? If not what would you change it to?

-I would change it to "Lord of Arkham" so that it fits better.

*Hiroshima*

1.) In this picture, you can see the Japan Red Cross Hospital. To me, it looks pretty normal except for the fact that there aren't many people around. It also looks very calm, but dark. There's something about it that makes it look threatening, though ironically, it should give a person the feeling of solitude, and yet it doesn't. Another feeling I get from this picture is the feeling of depression, I can't explain why, but something about the picture of this hospital makes everything seem dark and disturbing.
2.)This picture shows the ruins of a Gas Station Company. As you can see, the damage of the Hiroshima bombing was devastating. It practically brought down the whole building, although leaving some of the building structures standing. This picture makes me feel mentally agitated, and at the same time, terrified. It makes me terrified to imagine the possibility that this could happen again. It also makes me feel agitated because it's pretty hard to imagine the reaction of the people that went through this and the confusion they must have felt.
3.) This pictures shows a victim from the Hiroshima bombing. This picture makes me feel disturbed, yet reliefed that I wasn't there. It's pretty hard to imagine what these people must have gone through and what shocked they were in. This picture also makes me feel disturbed, and I've got to say that the reason for that is pretty explanatory because as you can see, the person in this picture is pretty burned.

4.) This artwork makes me feel a bit frightened, though intrigued. It makes me feel frightened because it seems like some of the people in this picture are severely injured looking for help. Though it makes me feel intrigued to think about where they can possibly be going. It also puzzles me for the fact that each person in this picture looks like they just came back back from the dead.

*Pro Choice*

1.My current stance on abortion is Pro Choice. I am an activist for Pro Choice because I believe that abortion is something that should be available for women as a form of equality with men. Another reason why I am Pro Choice is the fact that by not having legalized abortion available to women, we, as the public, are putting many of them at risk of performing illegal and unsafe ways of terminating the pregnancy. Another reason why I support legalized abortion is the fact that there are many existing cases out there involving rape or sexual assault. Such cases involving rape can usually affect one's outlook, and by not having legalized abortion as a choice to these victims, the child whom they'll bear might just serve as a painful reminder of what was done to them, and personally, if I were to be put in these kind of situation, I don't think that I would be tough enough to live with the fact that that happened to me, nor bare that child as a reminder of it. One of the last reasons why I think abortion should be legalized is the fact that this is a form of autonomy, or personal independence or choice.
2. "Every human being has the right to own their own body".
3. Well, there you go, "every human being has the right to their own body", and as you can see, women are human beings. Human beings that are capable of forming opinions and making decisions just like the men in this society. Also, I think that abortion gives women personal independence and satisfaction of knowing that they do have an option on what to with their body.
4."Banning abortion puts women at risk by forcing them to use illegal abortionists".
5. The quote in number four is another reason why I support legalized abortion. In my opinion, without legalized abortion, we are putting many women in danger of using uncertified abortionist. I also think that without legalized abortion, many women will feel as if they don't have an option, nor do they have anywhere to turn to in the occasion that they wanted to abort the fetus.

*Milk Powder Did What?*

1. Insert the picture that is the most powerful for you. (2 pnts)
2. Answer in a complete sentence: What is this picture about? (2 sentences - 2pnts)
-This picture shows a baby hospitalized in China due to contaminated milk powder. It has been reported that four children has died due to this contamination, while thirteen thousand others are still hospitalized.
3. What message does this picture present to you? Why?(2 complete sentences - 2 pnts)
- This picture gives me the impression that manufacturers today do not seem like they care too much about public safety when it comes to their products. I say this because, I know for a fact that this isn't the first time products such as that of baby products have been recalled or caused injuries such as it did in this case, which caused many to become hospitalized, and some to perish.
4. Can you relate your life to this picture? Why or why not? (4 sentences - 4pnts)
- I guess I can relate to this picture in a way. I say that because I know that I do sometimes question whether or not the things that my family and I purchase are safe. Although, I guess in a way I also don't understand since this picture concerns a little kid. I'm not saying this to be insensitive, I'm just stating the fact that I truly don't know what these kids are going through, nor what their family might be feeling.
